About Ultimate

Ultimate was founded in 1968 by some high school students in Maplewood, New Jersey.  The founders of Ultimate named it so because the game is an ultimate blend of several sports.  Players must establish a pivot foot (like basketball), catch the disc in the end zone to score (like football), try to find an open space on the field (like soccer), and be able to change quickly between offense and defense (like hockey).  Ultimate is rapidly gaining popularity all over the world because anyone can play it, from the finely tuned athlete to the sports novice.  It is an exciting, fast-paced game that is easy to learn, fun to play and extremely addictive.  It is also self-officiated, which is why there is a huge emphasis on “Spirit of the Game”.
